The golden rule: go late
In summer we schedule activities so you ride in the last two hours of daylight. The sunset quad and the sunset camel ride are the most comfortable options. Morning slots exist but heat builds quickly after 10:00.
Summer advantages
- Warm evenings: dinner outside without a jacket.
- Long days: sunset after 20:00 in June and July.
- Milky Way season: see the stargazing guide.
- Camp pools: a day pass is a great way to spend a hot afternoon.
What to wear and bring
- Light-coloured, breathable long sleeves and trousers (they protect better than bare skin)
- Sunglasses, the desert scarf (provided) and high-SPF sunscreen
- At least 1.5 litres of water per person
- Electrolyte sachets if you sweat a lot
Signs of heat exhaustion
Headache, dizziness, nausea or heavy sweating are signals to stop, drink and find shade. Tell your guide immediately. Children and older travellers are more sensitive — choose the dinner show if in doubt.
