Dust behind vehicles in the Agafay Desert at sunset
Short answerThe best months for Agafay are October to May, when days are warm and sunsets are clear. In summer (June–September) go late afternoon to avoid the midday heat. From November to March, bring a warm layer for the evening.

Spring (March to May)

Spring is the most comfortable season: warm days, cool evenings and, after a wet winter, a light green tint on the hills. It is also popular, so book a few days ahead.

Summer (June to September)

Middle-of-the-day temperatures around Marrakech often pass 35 °C. Choose the late-afternoon or sunset slot for quad biking and camel rides, drink plenty of water and wear a hat.

Autumn (October and November)

Autumn brings pleasant temperatures back and very clear light for photos. It is one of the best times for the sunset quad ride.

Winter (December to February)

Days are mild and sunny, and the High Atlas behind Agafay is often capped with snow, which makes for striking views. After sunset the temperature drops fast, sometimes close to freezing, so bring a warm jacket for dinner shows and nights in a camp.

What is the best time of day?

Late afternoon. You ride in softer light, reach a viewpoint at sunset and can continue with dinner in a camp.
